A School Task About Academically Stealing
Hi everyone.
In our last lesson which was done yesterday, the whole class was given homework, which requires us to create an infographic for next week. This infographic should be about an ethical issue and I chose plagiarism to make it. It was enjoyable actually, but it was also pretty challenging as I could not decide what to focus on. Should I be focused on the meaning of the subject or should I highlight not to make plagiarism? Answering this question took a lot of time. At least, after thinking for half an hour, I decided to warn people about avoiding plagiarism. Despite that half an hour, the creation process did not take a lot of time and it was so relieving as the only thing I thought about anxiously was deciding the colors I used in it. I used Canva, a colorful and impressive tool to create this kind of material and it helped me a lot to make it more interesting. While preparing for this task, I understood how much effect an infographic can have on language learners. By the time you learn a language, you have to memorize lots of things and also have to create connections between the words and visuals so that you can do it easily. Therefore, from my perspective, students can benefit from infographics while studying vocabulary. They can learn chunks and phrases by keeping these imaged materials. For instance, if they learn about the rules at school, they can look at an infographic and make the rules visualized. In my opinion, this will be a technique that I would love to use in my classes.
See you at the next post!
