How would you learn in the Era of the Jetsons?
How would you learn in 2100? Your answer will probably be like 'Full of technology, with holograms', etc. Back in the 90's, people were saying similar things too! We cannot imagine how developed the technology will be nearly 60 years later so it is understandable that they couldn't too. They probably felt like they were asked the question of 'The Jetsons Era'. Technology always develops, and day by day we try to catch its speed and act accordingly. We learn it and use it to learn through it. It is important to keep up with it in our Era more than any other time. We use technology as if it is one of our organs. Do not think of an organ like appendicitis, I meant an organ like arms and legs as use our phones more than our appendices for sure. Our phones, televisions, computers, and even our fridges are so electronic right now. We have all the information we want under our noses, we can learn anything through it. To specify this broad subject, I would like to talk about my own major. I study ELT (English Language Teaching) and i use technology in lots of my classes and I don't think of any other way. I prepare presentations, I open pdf files, I prepare digital notes and I sometimes write research papers. I communicate with my teachers and my friends so that we can be in pairs or groups in our projects. I'm telling you this as I don't think I would have these chances if I didn't have technology as my helper and I think every student of language should have this opportunity too. They learn a new language, and a new language means a new culture, even a new, unique personality for a person. They can use technology to meet the native speakers of the language they are learning, and they can watch, read, and write things about the language and the new culture. I don't think we can expect them to accept the language so fast when we don't give them these opportunities. This was for today's discussion, I hope to see you soon!
xoxo Melike.
