A Magical World That Everyone Should Visit!

Hello everyone!

Today's topic is rather interesting, and I think, it is something that everyone would be familiar with. This week's task in our lesson was to write a film review with 3 friends of ours. As you might recall, we also did a group task in my last post and it was pretty fun to experience. This time I worked with the same people I did in the former task: Alperen and Umut. We were supposed to write a film review together through Google Documents as a collaborative writing task. After finishing, we were also supposed to work with another group to give one another feedback. It might look easy, but it was not as you have both the task and the other two people to worry about! 

First, there is the decision state. We first tried to understand the task as a whole and then the first job of ours was to decide on which film to review. I believe every child in this world has a memory in which he or she is so delighted to watch the Harry Potter series. The movies are based on the book series of it, and as a reader of them, I believe everyone should both read them and watch the movies. All of the movies are so amazing and have a special place in my heart. We all love the movies so much that we wanted to make the review about them, but then the chaos of which one of the eight movies should be chosen, which are all amazing, arose. We have discussed and finally made the decision to choose the third movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban. 

This decision has lots of reasonable facts behind it. First, it is the movie that all three characters have grown, and the secrets that they do not even know about come to a resolution stage. It is the 'middle movie' which both resembles the former ones and sets a continual story for the latter ones. Therefore, we believe that it was the perfect one to choose. 

Then we decided on which one should write which paragraph, that was easy as we all know one another and we know our interests, so we also know who would love to write about quality, for example. This experience was truly instructive as we helped, supported, and even sometimes refuted one another. No matter what the challenges were, we got through it together and I think it became pretty good. 

Google Documents was a good tool to use, however, I found it pretty confusing:') You have to ask the permission of the creator of the document about editing or commenting and other things and it took me some time to figure out all of them. Actually, it was even harder to comment on the other group's work! Thanks to my amazing peers, I learned that, and now, I am more comfortable when I use Google Documents.

 Hello Everyone! It has been a great week for me, what about you? I was busy doing my homework as always. This week we worked on the topic of artificial intelligence use. Again my team consisted of Umut, Alperen, and me. We had a great time, no lies here. However, this time finding a task was quite hard as we wanted to do something as creative as possible. We created an activity of 'writing a story' with the help of AI tools. The students are required to find a pair and select a genre for themselves: fantasy, mystery, or romance. They need to ask the AI tool to write a story and then, they need to form it. While writing the story, they need to pick 5 words related to their topics and include them in their stories. They also be given a worksheet where they need to fill in the words. MATERIAL DESIGNER

HELLO EVERYONE! It is always a pleasure for me to write here and thankfully, this week we have lots of things to talk about. As I mentioned in my previous post, I started taking Current Issues in English Language Teaching class and this week we were asked to create Corpus Based teaching materials and a lesson plan according to the ASSURE model in teaching. It means that we need to create an assessment that requires students to use corpus and then, we need to implement it in a lesson plan. It was group homework which I did with my friends Elif and Evrim. We created a 5 pages long material about Possessive Adjectives with activities such as filling in the blanks, true-false, choose the correct option. We used Canva and Paint while preparing them and made them so colorful that even I wanted to do them on my own. We needed to be sure that we were attracting their attention, did not we? FLIPPING AROUND!

  Hello Everyone! Wow, such a week it has been! It seems there were lots of different ways to teach that we did not know until this week. We learned an approach called 'Flipped Classroom'. This approach allows teachers to use technology to record or choose a video of the subject that teachers will discuss in the next session. Then, they will send it to their students so that they can practice the subjects at home by themselves, and in the classroom, they can do exercises and activities with their teachers. To be able to comprehend it better, we were given the task of preparing our own flipped classroom video and material. I worked with my friends Umut and Alperen. We chose the subject of superlatives and comparatives. We prepared two different activities and one presentation video.
