Chatting With Marie Curie

 Hello Everyone!

Today our topics are AI -Artificial Intelligence- and one of the most impressive ways to use it.

This week, our teacher gave us the task of choosing a historical character to chat with.

It sounds impossible and awkward, right? Actually, no. 5 years ago you could tell that this is impossible and strange to think about but now, we have AI tools to help us to do this kind of surreal thing. 

She introduced us to the tool and how we could use it and gave us instructions afterward to lead us. 

First, we had to choose a historical character. At that exact moment, I knew I should choose a strong woman figure and the first to come to mind is, of course, Marie Curie. 

If you observe this picture carefully, you can see that she is the only woman in this picture and you can understand why I chose her:).

She is notable for being the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the only woman to win in two different scientific fields, and the only person to win Nobel Prizes in both Physics and Chemistry. I think these are enough to admire her. 

It was funny to act like I was really chatting with her and it was unbelievable that the AI tool actually acted like it was her. Seeing that it added emotions besides the historical facts made me both scared and fascinated. Of course, it was not perfect, sometimes it stopped answering my questions and I had to ask the same question five times at least, however, this cannot change the fact that it was better than I had imagined. 

Using these kinds of AI tools is really beneficial in learning and I love that we are able to learn how to use them so that we can teach and integrate them as a teaching strategy as future English teachers. 

I would like to use them to create schemas or to use as a speaking and listening utility. 

Many of the students are not able to upgrade their speaking and listening skills, which are accepted as the basis of language learning in a lot of sources, and this situation makes it harder for them to be proficient in the language they try to learn. Imagine a student using them like this without the anxiety of being ashamed and peer pressure. You could understand how beneficial can they be, right?
