HAVE YOU EVER VISITED THE BIG APPLE?

Big Apple, have you ever heard about it? It is a version of saying New York City! It is one of the most popular, impressive, fascinating cities in the world. New York is one of the capitals of finance, fashion, fame any more more different areas. And today, I will give you a tour of the city.

This week's task for my Current Issues in English lesson was the use of AR-integrated English language teaching. AR means artificial intelligence and it opens a way for you to the world that you have never seen. 

Our task was to prepare a tour of a known place with its cultural and geographical beauty. 

We were a group of three, including two of my friends, Alperen and Umut, whom you also know from my previous vlogs. We chose New York because we all wanted to visit there and learn about its beauty.

First, we searched for the best places to visit there, and we found lots of places but we wanted them to have both visual and cultural importance, so we only chose three, The Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and the Metropolitan Museum. 

We put QR codes for each of the locations so that the reader can scan and find herself/himself just next to them. For each location, we put different questions that the readers can learn via their visit with artificial intelligence, and the questions mostly involve personal opinion questions. 

After planning the first visits, we wanted to put something that might be a little different but unforgettable, and we decided to put a pizzeria and a bagel shop as good options to go if you want to eat something in New York. 

In the last part of our activity sheet, we wanted our readers to write an e-mail that requires them to suggest places to visit or eat food with any kind of tips that they can give to their responder. 

Overall, we enjoyed the preparation cycle as it was pretty enjoyable to learn new things about a place that I also want to visit in the future. Seeing that Artificial Intelligence can create a small experience like this gave me a great joy and I am very pleased that I could see a good example of technology use.

After everything was done we prepared a lesson plan according to ASSURE model and also apploaded it with the worksheet.

Make the World Great Again!

 Hi everyone,   Today our topic is my new podcast! This was given as a task to all of my class and it actually made us all excited. It is about our ideas on how can, humankind, make the World a better place to live in and we are only given 60 seconds. At first, I got so anxious. It was really hard to find an idea which can be talked about for only 60 seconds. To be honest, deciding what I will say was a hard job but I think I managed it. I talked about being equal is the crucial part of living in a better place. I thought writing the script was the hardest part, then I started to record it and I realized writing the script was just a warm-up. Being careful about how to pronounce everything made me lose my concentration and afterward, I needed to record it again. I tried to record it properly for almost 25 times! Of course, it was worth it. I had an amazing time while recording and that also made me realize such a task like this can improve a student's 4 main language skil...

Chatting With Marie Curie

  Hello Everyone! Today our topics are AI -Artificial Intelligence- and one of the most impressive ways to use it. This week, our teacher gave us the task of choosing a historical character to chat with. It sounds impossible and awkward, right? Actually, no. 5 years ago you could tell that this is impossible and strange to think about but now, we have AI tools to help us to do this kind of surreal thing.  She introduced us to the tool and how we could use it and gave us instructions afterward to lead us.  First, we had to choose a historical character. At that exact moment, I knew I should choose a strong woman figure and the first to come to mind is, of course, Marie Curie.  If you observe this picture carefully, you can see that she is the only woman in this picture and you can understand why I chose her:). She is notable for being the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the only woman to win in two different scientific fields, and the only person to win Nobel Prizes...

How you end a semester determines how you begin the next one..

Hello Everyone! Now it is finally June. I love summer so I am very excited for a full season to begin. New beginnings always happen when old ones ends, of course. In our situation this thing is the spring semester of our school. It is so strange that we are finishing our 2nd year in university and when I look back, I can realize how much we have grown and learned during this time. I am also very emotional as this post will be my last for this semester. I enjoyed every second of this writing experience and I will miss it with my whole heart.  I think this lesson has given me so much during the semester. I really learned excited things like making videos with the help of artifical intelligence and even making a picture turn into a 3D version as if I see it in real life. It has been my most enjoyable lesson and I think it showed me lots of cool things that I can brag about when I am with my friends out of school.
