CHOOSE YOUR JOURNEY YOURSELF!

Hello Everyone! It has been a great week for me, what about you? I was busy doing my homework as always. This week we worked on the topic of artificial intelligence use. Again my team consisted of Umut, Alperen, and me. We had a great time, no lies here. However, this time finding a task was quite hard as we wanted to do something as creative as possible. We created an activity of 'writing a story' with the help of AI tools. The students are required to find a pair and select a genre for themselves: fantasy, mystery, or romance. They need to ask the AI tool to write a story and then, they need to form it. While writing the story, they need to pick 5 words related to their topics and include them in their stories. They also be given a worksheet where they need to fill in the words. After writing the story, they will be given a feedback worksheet where they will be able to select whether they enjoyed the activity and again, they will express their feeling with a little writing a...

HAVE YOU EVER VISITED THE BIG APPLE?

Resim
Hello Everyone!                                                                           Big Apple, have you ever heard about it? It is a version of saying New York City! It is one of the most popular, impressive, fascinating cities in the world. New York is one of the capitals of finance, fashion, fame any more more different areas. And today, I will give you a tour of the city. This week's task for my Current Issues in English lesson was the use of AR-integrated English language teaching. AR means artificial intelligence and it opens a way for you to the world that you have never seen.  Our task was to prepare a tour of a known place with its cultural and geographical beauty.  We were a group of three, including two of my friends, Alperen and Umut, whom you also know from my previous vl...

FLIPPING AROUND!

Hello Everyone! Wow, such a week it has been! It seems there were lots of different ways to teach that we did not know until this week. We learned an approach called 'Flipped Classroom'. This approach allows teachers to use technology to record or choose a video of the subject that teachers will discuss in the next session. Then, they will send it to their students so that they can practice the subjects at home by themselves, and in the classroom, they can do exercises and activities with their teachers. To be able to comprehend it better, we were given the task of preparing our own flipped classroom video and material. I worked with my friends Umut and Alperen. We chose the subject of superlatives and comparatives. We prepared two different activities and one presentation video. We had trouble while trying to find the best platform to record and share the video on. However, in the end, we thought it would be best to record the video on Zoom and share it on YouTube. We were r...

MATERIAL DESIGNER

HELLO EVERYONE! It is always a pleasure for me to write here and thankfully, this week we have lots of things to talk about. As I mentioned in my previous post, I started taking Current Issues in English Language Teaching class and this week we were asked to create Corpus Based teaching materials and a lesson plan according to the ASSURE model in teaching. It means that we need to create an assessment that requires students to use corpus and then, we need to implement it in a lesson plan. It was group homework which I did with my friends Elif and Evrim. We created a 5 pages long material about Possessive Adjectives with activities such as filling in the blanks, true-false, choose the correct option. We used Canva and Paint while preparing them and made them so colorful that even I wanted to do them on my own. We needed to be sure that we were attracting their attention, did not we? We divided the sections among the three of us and used Canva's technological help to see each step of...

How you end a semester determines how you begin the next one..

Hello Everyone! Now it is finally June. I love summer so I am very excited for a full season to begin. New beginnings always happen when old ones ends, of course. In our situation this thing is the spring semester of our school. It is so strange that we are finishing our 2nd year in university and when I look back, I can realize how much we have grown and learned during this time. I am also very emotional as this post will be my last for this semester. I enjoyed every second of this writing experience and I will miss it with my whole heart.  I think this lesson has given me so much during the semester. I really learned excited things like making videos with the help of artifical intelligence and even making a picture turn into a 3D version as if I see it in real life. It has been my most enjoyable lesson and I think it showed me lots of cool things that I can brag about when I am with my friends out of school. I have always thought that using technological tools is hard before I ha...

Chatting With Marie Curie

Resim
Hello Everyone! Today our topics are AI -Artificial Intelligence- and one of the most impressive ways to use it. This week, our teacher gave us the task of choosing a historical character to chat with. It sounds impossible and awkward, right? Actually, no. 5 years ago you could tell that this is impossible and strange to think about but now, we have AI tools to help us to do this kind of surreal thing.  She introduced us to the tool and how we could use it and gave us instructions afterward to lead us.  First, we had to choose a historical character. At that exact moment, I knew I should choose a strong woman figure and the first to come to mind is, of course, Marie Curie.  If you observe this picture carefully, you can see that she is the only woman in this picture and you can understand why I chose her:). She is notable for being the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the only woman to win in two different scientific fields, and the only person to win Nobel Prizes...
