A Magical World That Everyone Should Visit!

Resim
Hello everyone! Today's topic is rather interesting, and I think, it is something that everyone would be familiar with. This week's task in our lesson was to write a film review with 3 friends of ours. As you might recall, we also did a group task in my last post and it was pretty fun to experience. This time I worked with the same people I did in the former task: Alperen and Umut. We were supposed to write a film review together through Google Documents as a collaborative writing task. After finishing, we were also supposed to work with another group to give one another feedback. It might look easy, but it was not as you have both the task and the other two people to worry about!  First, there is the decision state. We first tried to understand the task as a whole and then the first job of ours was to decide on which film to review. I believe every child in this world has a memory in which he or she is so delighted to watch the Harry Potter series. The movies are based on t...

Storytelling With Pixels

Hello everyone! This week was one of the best weeks I have ever lived when it comes to the subject of homework. We had a task that required us to make a storytelling video, which is called digital storytelling,  and we were also given 3 topics from which we could choose. The options were to make a public service announcement, an 'how to do' instruction, or a fictional story. It was given as a group project so two of my best friends and I created a group and started to think about what we should do.  We wanted it to be something that reflects us and something that we can enjoy while we are doing it so we decided to make a fictional story video and got some help from our favorite activity to do together, games! Getting some help from games was a difficult idea to come out with, but deciding on the story was even harder. It had to include a problem, a climax, and a resolution part in which the problem was solved and we had to do it in just 2 minutes. We created a story in w...

Make the World Great Again!

Hi everyone,   Today our topic is my new podcast! This was given as a task to all of my class and it actually made us all excited. It is about our ideas on how can, humankind, make the World a better place to live in and we are only given 60 seconds. At first, I got so anxious. It was really hard to find an idea which can be talked about for only 60 seconds. To be honest, deciding what I will say was a hard job but I think I managed it. I talked about being equal is the crucial part of living in a better place. I thought writing the script was the hardest part, then I started to record it and I realized writing the script was just a warm-up. Being careful about how to pronounce everything made me lose my concentration and afterward, I needed to record it again. I tried to record it properly for almost 25 times! Of course, it was worth it. I had an amazing time while recording and that also made me realize such a task like this can improve a student's 4 main language skil...

A School Task About Academically Stealing

Resim
Hi everyone. In our last lesson which was done yesterday, the whole class was given homework, which requires us to create an infographic for next week. This infographic should be about an ethical issue and I chose plagiarism to make it. It was enjoyable actually, but it was also pretty challenging as I could not decide what to focus on. Should I be focused on the meaning of the subject or should I highlight not to make plagiarism? Answering this question took a lot of time. At least, after thinking for half an hour, I decided to warn people about avoiding plagiarism. Despite that half an hour, the creation process did not take a lot of time and it was so relieving as the only thing I thought about anxiously was deciding the colors I used in it.  I used Canva, a colorful and impressive tool to create this kind of material and it helped me a lot to make it more interesting. While preparing for this task, I understood how much effect an infographic can have on language learners. By th...

How would you learn in the Era of the Jetsons?

How would you learn in 2100? Your answer will probably be like 'Full of technology, with holograms', etc. Back in the 90's, people were saying similar things too! We cannot imagine how developed the technology will be nearly 60 years later so it is understandable that they couldn't too. They probably felt like they were asked the question of 'The Jetsons Era'. Technology always develops, and day by day we try to catch its speed and act accordingly. We learn it and use it to learn through it. It is important to keep up with it in our Era more than any other time. We use technology as if it is one of our organs. Do not think of an organ like appendicitis, I meant an organ like arms and legs as use our phones more than our appendices for sure. Our phones, televisions, computers, and even our fridges are so electronic right now. We have all the information we want under our noses, we can learn anything through it. To specify this broad subject, I would like to talk...

Let's Get on Board!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog series! This is my very first post and writing it is absolutely exciting. I decided to start this journey as I have always been a person who loves telling her thoughts. I like to talk about my life my university subjects, my lectures, and how studying ELT is going! You will see me writing about a subject that I learned in one of my classes probably. Searching for a specific context about my major always makes me more passionate about my bachelor's classes and I hope to make you excited too.  I will be combining the knowledge I learn with the knowledge I dug for and my ideas about them. I hope you can find some similar ideas and similar views of life with yourselves.  xoxo Mel.
